Pendleton School of Creative Arts

The School of Creative Arts and Design at Pendleton Sixth Form College has a rich history of educating future artists and designers in preparation for a career in the creative industries. Our reputation for excellent progression and employability opportunities is reflected in our extensive list of alumni working across the creative sector. Students have access to a range of specialist art rooms, 3D workshops, printmaking facilities, computer suites, industry and domestic sewing machines and dedicated base rooms, as well as gallery spaces which provide students with the chance to exhibit their work throughout the year.

Andrew Piper

Head of Creative Arts

Andrew’s first degree and main specialism is Graphic Design and he has a post-graduate qualification in Creative Technology. Andrew has held a Head of Department position in The Arts at three separate colleges and has a broad knowledge of art, design, media and music based curriculum.

Ian Becket

Teacher of Graphic Design

Ian began his career as a graphic designer working for Penguin Books, before working for design consultancies all over the UK on a variety of branding, brochure, exhibition and packaging projects. Ian Joined the Pendleton School of Creative Arts in 2019 as a Teacher of Graphic Design.

Mark Bennett

Teacher of Graphic Design

Mark is an illustrator and graphic designer with over 30 years of experience. He studied at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design and has a Masters Degree in Illustration. Fluent in both traditional and digital media, he encourages creativity and experimentation in all his students.

Vicki Clampitt

Teacher of Art & Design

After completing her A-levels in Fine Art, Photography, English Literature and ICT, Vicki went on to achieve a First-Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Oxford Brookes University. Vicki adopts multidisciplinary approach to Fine Art, encompassing a range of skills such as; drawing, painting and sculpture.

Derek Cowper

Teacher of Art & Photography

The Chief Examiner of the BTEC Nationals in Art and Design qualification. Derek completed his BA in the Visual Arts in 2000, specialising in Fine Art and Photography, upon leaving University he worked as artist in residencies at Grizedale Arts before pursuing a career teaching in 2003. 

Jessica Hamp

Teacher of Art & Design

Jessica studied Fine Art at the University of Arts London, specialising in photography and video. After graduating she worked in special education settings before completing her teacher training. Jessica previously taught Art at an inner-city London school before relocating to Manchester.

Rachel Jarvis

Teacher of Graphic Design

After completing her BA in Graphic Design in 2005, Rachel worked for various graphic design agencies and an interior design studio. In 2007 she undertook her teacher training and has since taught across a variety of creative art & design courses sharing her industry knowledge. 

Catherine Owen

Teacher of Textiles & Fashion

Cath is an artist who enjoys working in many mixed media techniques, having a diverse range of skills and a wealth of experience in industry and teaching. She has a curious nature and enjoy exploring new processes, and is committed to providing the best experience for her students.

Cath Stanley

Teacher of Photography

Specialising in landscape and fine art photography, Cath is a member of FORM collective, a group of talented photographers and image-makers from across the UK. In her spare time, Cath founded Landform, a social media platform, promoting the work of female landscape photographers. 

Lisa Walker

Curriculum Leader for Creative Arts

Lisa studied at De Montfort University gaining a BA(Hons) in Surface Pattern, returning to Manchester to complete a PGCE at MMU. Having taught for over 26 in Salford, Lisa encourages her students to take pride in where they are from and to have an aspirational attitude to learning.

Nicola Worthington

Teacher of Textiles & Fashion

After completing her Design and Visual Arts Degree at Liverpool John Moore’s University, Nicola began her career working as a technician and learning advisor for the Creative Arts department. Nicola has been teaching for 17 years,  applying her knowledge and experience to her lessons.
